What ISO 14692 Actually Requires

ISO 14692 is the global benchmark for Glass-Reinforced Plastic (GRP) piping in petroleum and natural gas industries. Published in 4 parts (2017 edition), it covers the complete lifecycle: design, materials, manufacturing, installation, and testing.

For procurement teams, Part 2 (Qualification and manufacture) and Part 4 (Fabrication, installation and operation) are the critical ones. They specify which tests must be performed — and who can perform them.

The standard requires third-party verification for:

3. What’s the actual turnaround time?

4. Does the report language match your end user’s language?

If you’re supplying pipe to a Russian EPC or a Middle Eastern NOC, the test report must be readable by their engineers. A lab offering ZH/EN/RU/AR reports saves you translation costs and eliminates interpretation errors.

5. Can the lab provide raw data, not just PASS/FAIL?

A credible lab provides: original test curves (stress-strain, DSC thermograms, burst pressure plots), equipment calibration records, standard version numbers, technician and reviewer signatures.
