Third-party testing of non-metallic composite pipe means an independent laboratory — independent of both manufacturer and purchaser — verifies the full performance of glass-fiber reinforced polymer (FRP/GRP/GRE) pipe against international standards such as ISO 14692, API 15HR and ASTM D2992: axial tensile, Barcol hardness, resin content, glass-transition temperature (Tg), dimensions and hydrostatic burst. LEISA is an independent testing laboratory in Dongying, Shandong (founded 2015), issuing reports in Chinese, English, Russian and Arabic within 72 hours.
Why must FRP pipe be tested before it goes downhole?
The final performance of an FRP pipe is locked in the moment curing completes — there is no annealing or remediation. API Spec 15HR requires every joint to pass a 100% hydrostatic test at 1.5× rated pressure before shipment, with batch sampling for Tg (DSC), resin content and axial tensile. A single downhole string failure costs $221,000–$441,000 (workover-rig mobilization, fishing, replacement pipe and lost production), while full-batch third-party testing is under 1% of that cost.
