Prefabricated Buried Insulated FRP Pipe Testing Services

Service Content

Prefabricated buried insulated FRP pipe is a composite of a working/carrier steel pipe, a rigid polyurethane foam insulation layer and an FRP outer jacket, widely used for directly buried conveyance of district heating, industrial steam and hot/cold media. The mechanical and waterproof performance of the outer jacket, together with the density and thermal conductivity of the insulation foam, directly govern the corrosion-protection life and heat loss of the network. Following the relevant product standards, the LEISA Technology laboratory provides dedicated/partial-parameter third-party testing of buried insulated pipe, covering outer-jacket appearance, density, tensile and flexural strength, water seepage, wall thickness, plus foam density, compressive strength, water absorption, thermal conductivity and overall ring stiffness (parallel-plate loading), providing a basis for product acceptance and project quality assessment.

Test Items

Service Process

  1. Sample receipt and registration: record diameter, insulation structure and batch.
  2. Plan confirmation: select test items per heating/industrial-network standards.
  3. Specimen preparation: prepare jacket, foam and whole-pipe specimens and condition them.
  4. Testing: complete mechanical, waterproof, density and thermal tests.
  5. Data processing and review: calculate, judge conformity and review.
  6. Report delivery: issue the report with insulation and corrosion-protection advice.

Advantages

  • Layer-by-layer assessment: jacket, insulation and whole-pipe quantified separately.
  • Thermal and mechanical: both insulation effectiveness and load/deformation resistance.
  • Acceptance-oriented: data usable directly for heating-network site and completion acceptance.

Through systematic testing of the outer jacket, insulation foam and whole pipe, the LEISA Technology laboratory helps manufacturers and contractors accurately control the three key qualities of waterproofing, insulation and structural strength, extending the service life of buried networks and reducing heat loss.

Applicable standards: GB/T 1033-1, GB/T 1449, GB/T 1462, GB/T 8804-3, GB/T 8806, ISO 178, ASTM D2412.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is tested on buried insulated FRP pipe?

Outer-jacket mechanics and waterproofing, wall thickness, polyurethane foam density, compressive strength, water absorption, thermal conductivity and overall ring stiffness (parallel-plate loading).

How is ring stiffness measured?

By the parallel-plate loading method to assess resistance to external-load deformation, per ASTM D2412.

Can insulation effectiveness be evaluated?

Yes — via thermal conductivity, foam density and water absorption, giving an overall picture of insulation performance and durability.
